HempConnect developed a self-compensating and net-negative cradle to cradle framework, that combines the integration of industrial hemp, an ecologically promising crop, with the pyrolysis of carbonaceous plant material into biochar, one of the most recognized negative emissions technologies already available, to produce healthy plant-based proteins while simultaneously producing decentralised renewable thermal energy, sequestering high amounts of CO2 with the durability of 100 years and more, and ultimately regenerating ecosystems by restoring ecological resilience.
